Beginning at the Beginning: An Introduction to Yoga and Meditation

This 2.hr workshop will introduce the fundamental principles of yoga and meditation. Perfect for newcomers who would like to learn the essentials elements of correct alignment, breathing and become familiar with common yoga poses and mindfulness meditation practices. This workshop will enable you to step into a class setting with confidence and ease.

We will explore:

– Fundamentals of good alignment to help avoid injury

– Common yoga poses

– Principles of yoga for individual bodies

– Foundation breathing techniques

– Finding your comfortable meditation seat

– Principles and practice of mindfulness meditation

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle

Mats and all props supplied but you are also welcome to bring your own if you wish

Naomi has a deep passion for integrating yoga, meditation and mindfulness and tailoring these practices for individual students in a small class or 1-1 setting.  She is an Inhale Life certified 350hr Yoga Teacher and has also completed certificates in Yin Yoga and Mindfulness teacher training with Sarah Owen and Meditation Facilitator teacher training at Adore Yoga. 

She began practicing yoga, meditation and Reiki in 1994 while working as a remedial massage therapist. Naomi holds an honours degree in psychology and neuroscience. In addition to teaching yoga and meditation, Naomi works in health care strategy to support clinicians to deliver compassionate, evidence-based palliative and end of life care. 

Recurring chronic back pain in early 2017 gifted Naomi the opportunity to return to her mat with renewed focus and enthusiasm. Her yoga and meditation practice provides her daily anchor and reminder of the ever-present choice to respond from her heart with love, kindness and humility in each moment.

Naomi loves sharing yoga and meditation with others who are looking to establish or deepen their personal practice. Curious beginners and more experienced students are all warmly welcomed!
